One of our favourite boat transport jobs is taking a boat by water especially on the River Medway. We were asked to move a Shetland 27 from Hampstead Marina to Medway Bridge Marina for one of Boatshed Medway Yacht Brokers Clients,. Boatshed Medway deal with all of the brokerage boats at Medway Bridge Marina as well as selling boats all over Kent,.
Jamie and Suzzanne arrived at Hampstead Marina in the knowledge that they would have to make it to Allington Lock before the lock closed. Once on board the boats systems were checked and of course fuel levels. Oh No! - Not enough fuel. Fuel had to be collected in a Jerry can from the nearest garage at peckham. Allington Lock was not going to be an option - so a quick call to Adrian at Allington Marina secured a berth for the night.
The first lock was Teston Lock which is manually operated.
Then came Farleigh Lock - also manually operated.
The River Medway is a very beautiful place and this was one of the hottest days of the year. The last port of call that day was Allington Marina. Once safely moored a relaxing evening beckoned.
The next day Allington Lock opened up and the Shetland 27 boat was moved to Medway Bridge Marina. It was approximately 1and a half hours from Allington to Medway Bridge Marina.
Boatshed Medways new boat owner was eagerly awaiting her delivery and was delighted for Boat Transport UK to hand over the keys.
